This was not your usual Perth wedding, in fact it started out as an engagement party! When we met Jade and Simon we were asked to keep it hush-hush. And so there was a distinct buzz of excitement when their musician told the guests that Jade and Simon had a surprise in stall for them. They were to followed him like the piped-piper playing on his guitar “I’m Yours” by Jason Maraz. He led them to the beautiful gardens of Millbrook Winery to find out just what the couple had planned.

The afternoon started with Jade and Simon greeting their guest in the tasting room overlooking the lake, gardens and natural bush surrounding the winery. Around 4.00pm Jade and Simon snuck away to change into their wedding outfits. Simon purchased a suit from Terrace Mens Wear in Fremantle and Jade’s dress was from Tuscany Bridal. Alison Baker, a client and  friend of Simon’s styled the flowers for the day. Jade’s hair and make up were done by Head Graffitti in Mandurah.

Simon and his best mate Toby, a Weimaraner who had the rings around his neck, were dressed to match and waited by the lake for the guests to wander down and take a seat in the shade. Jade was soon to follow walking down arm in arm with her dad through a cascade of flowering wisteria. The setting was magical and after they walked back up the isle as husband and wife there were lots of hugs and kisses and family photos.

We found many wonderful locations around the grounds of the Millbrook winery for bridal photos of Jade and Simon before heading into the wedding reception on the top floor restaurant. James Wilson was their musician for the evening and brought them into the reception with “It’s a beautiful Day” by U2. A nice touch at the reception was instead of the traditional bononnieres Jade and Simon opted to donate to K9 Dog Rescue or the Leukaemia Foundation. Two jars were on the gift table labelled with the charities name. The guests were given a token which they placed in the relevant jar. What a great idea!

After the formalities of the evening the dance floor was opened and the partying continued. What a great Millbrook Winery wedding.
