It’s a very old cliché, but “time does pass quickly”. Don’t miss the opportunity to have fabulous photographs of your family. Great images inspire memories of how you felt at the time, 10, 20 or 50 years on. And as time goes on the images become more precious.
Keep Peter and Tegwyn in mind for life’s milestones and celebrations: pregnancy, the birth of a child, anniversaries, family get-togethers and just when things are going great! Remember to capture your newborn, your toddler, your child, your teenager and your adult children. Time does pass so quickly that these times will be over in what seems like a flash. Please call us to capture all that happens in your life.
Portrait Photography Perth FAQ
Where is Peter Edwards Photography located?
Perth, Western Australia
Do you do portrait photography outside of Perth?
Yes, we are able to travel outside of Perth to do a photography session.
Are your photo shoots done in a studio or elsewhere?
We love to take portraits either at an out-door location or in our studio and are available to take photographs at almost any location except of course where photography is forbidden.
We can take portraits at places that are special to your family – for example in the bush, the beach, a family farm – in the past we have shot on location at many different locations including city, parks, bushland and beaches!
How long does a portrait photography session take?
Photography sessions usually last between an hour and two depending on how many people are to be photographed and the ages involved.
We generally book only two sittings a day, a morning and/or an afternoon session. Setting aside a block of time allows us to build rapport and allows you to feel relaxed in front of the camera. This is important to capture natural images of you and your family – images that will last a lifetime!
We thoroughly enjoy taking photographs and it is not unusual for some sessions to end up being longer than usual!
Are we able to focus the shoot around hobbies or activities, for example surfing, golf, horse-riding or tennis?
Tegwyn and I would be delighted to capture pretty much anything. Please let us know about any specific hobbies in advance.
Some hobbies will require special equipment and we’d like the opportunity to research the subject before your shoot so that we capture the best photographs.
What happens if I – or my child is unwell?
Please get in touch with us ASAP in the event of sickness so we can reschedule your session.
What should bring and what should I wear?
If we are going on location, we’d suggest bringing items you’d usually take for a day at the park: some of your child’s favourite toys, food (but please avoid anything icky) plus drinks and wipes.
Simple clothes (with plain colours or a slight pattern) usually work best.
It’s important you and your children feel comfortable and like the clothes in which you’re dressed. If you’d like to bring along a couple of options of clothing for the children, we can explore different looks on the day. Likewise if you’re undecided about a shirt or blouse feel free to bring a couple.
Ensure all the outfits are clean and pressed before the shoot. If this is a family, couples or group shoot consider what each other will be wearing so that any colours are complimentary and styles are consistent. You won’t want someone looking like they’re off on a picnic and another dressed to the 9’s. And of course, if there are some strong individual styles in the group, maybe you’d like to capture that!
What do we do if it rains or the weather is not good?
Being a photographer for over 20 years means that I am completely confident doing a photography shoot regardless of the weather! A light cloud cover is softer and can be more flattering when shooting portraits.
If it is raining on the day of your photoshoot, and you’d prefer to reschedule, we’re happy to do so. Alternatively if you’re locked into that day we can suggest suitable locations, so don’t worry – we will still capture a wonderful selection of photographs.
Are you able to remove imperfections from the images?
Yes, we are able to remove blemishes and other imperfections after the shoot.
After the portrait photography session
Once the photos are taken we’ll arrange a time for your selection and purchasing appointment. You’ll see the range of photos on screen and we can discuss what you’d like in regards to combinations and sizing. It’s always a good idea to have a look around your home and perhaps come with a few ideas of spaces where you may want to display images. Our aim is for you to be proud of the selection of images you have in your home.
How many photographs will we be receiving?
I’m proud of the fact that I work tirelessly to produce a selection of different images which are all of the highest standard. Typically I will select thirty to sixty images for you to view.
Our clients usually choose a selection of photographs to be hung on their walls – as framed prints, canvas acrylic/aluminium mounted styles. An album or coffee table book is a lovely addition which can be a creative way to showcase all of the images we have taken. Based on our years of experience, we know that you will love the final photographs.
Please feel free to peruse my website to get a feel for the type of photography style I produce.
Who will have copyright to the photographs?
I am the copyright holder of every photograph I take. For those who need a digital file, options for purchase are available.
How many years have you been a professional photographer for? Do you have any formal qualifications in photography?
I’ve been employed as a professional photographer for over 20 years. I studied a three year full time Diploma of Photography and have been awarded a Master of Photography by the Australian Instituted of Photography. My Partner Tegwyn and I have run our own business for most of our adult lives and have always been involved in “people photography”.
Before starting our own business, I worked with an architectural photographer then as a photographer photographing major engineering projects. The background in this area has given me a depth of knowledge and keen eye for design in photography.
