What a wonderful Blue Water Grill wedding!! It was a joy to be with such a positive couple who just don’t sweat the small stuff, – well maybe with the exception of the button-holes not being in the right place at the right time. 🙂 Novi was ready to start with the bridal photos when we arrived at her home. With her sister coming from Indonesia and not being familiar with a “Western” wedding gown Novi enlisted the help of Jessica [the hairdresser and makeup artist] and Tegwyn [photographer] to assist her with getting into her dress and lacing up the back. Her sister and son finalised the finishing touches putting on Novi’s jewellry and shoes. Novi and Phil chose Blue Water Grill at Heathcote Reserve in Applecross as the venue for both the ceremony and reception. They had an intimate wedding with about 20-30 close friends and relatives. Novi’s sister from Indonesia and her son were by her side throughout the day. Another lovely touch was her father in-law from her previous marriage walking Novi down the isle to give her away to Phil. They were both keen to include some Indonesian wedding traditions and hence there was the bare foot crushing of the egg by Phil with Novi washing the egg from his feet with rose petal water. This tradition shows the groom is ready to take the role as head of the family, and that the bride should serve him faithfully. The guests gathered on the lawn to watch the ceremony, which was in the shade of a huge gum tree, looking over the river and the city. While the wedding photos were being taken, the guests relaxed with drinks and nibbles outdoors watching the sunset. Novi, Phil and the bridal party had wedding photos taken around the grounds of Heathcote and later along the river as the sun was setting. The reception was held in the Blue Water Grill private dinning room.
